Sibley, Iowa — Drugs, drug paraphernalia and squalid living conditions were reportedly discovered Wednesday when Osceola County Deputies executed a search warrant at a Sibley residence.
Osceola County authorities say the search warrant executed at 924 5th Place in Sibley Wednesday yielded multiple drug-related items in two of the dwelling’s bedrooms including paraphernalia and packaging that reportedly contained a green, plant-like material consistent with marijuana.
Deputies say they also observed very poor living conditions inside the residence, they say the main living area of the house was filled with miscellaneous items and trash which made it inaccessible except for a small walking path. The residence did not have running water or gas and only had a small heater to heat the upstairs bedrooms, according to authorities. The kitchen sink was reportedly filled with dishes which were full of mold and rotting food. Authorities say the basement had been flooded with water for a quite some time which created a strong musty smell throughout the residence.
As a result of their investigation, deputies say they arrested 22-year-old Matthew Glen Davids, for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officials say 29-year-old Michael Johnathan Davids was arrested and charged for the same offenses. And 50-year-old Cristee Ann Davids, who was already being held in the Osceola County jail, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Iowa Department of Human Services assisted deputies by removing a 3-year-old from the residence. Deputies say the 3-year-old shared a bedroom with father, Michael Davids and grandmother, Cristee Davids. In the immediate area of the 3-year-old’s sleeping area, deputies allegedly located multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia and knives.
As a result of all of the investigation, Michael Davids and Cristee Davids were both additionally charged with child endangerment.
Osceola County authorities say Cristee Davids is being held on a $3,800 bond. Michael Davids is being held on a $3,300 bond. Matthew Davids is being held on a $1,300 bond.
