Boyden, Iowa — The contents of a shed were destroyed in a fire on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Boyden.
According to Boyden Fire Chief Chris Starkenburg, about 1:30 p.m., the Boyden Fire Department was called to the report of a shed fire at 3935 320th Street, in the southwest corner of Boyden on Highway 18.
The chief says the fire department saw smoke from the eaves and gable bends as they approached the scene. He says they were able to see through one of the windows that some materials in the southwest corner of the building were burning. He says they mounted an interior attack.
Starkenburg says no injuries were reported.
He says the source of the ignition appeared to be a deep freeze, and he says the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.
Chief Starkenburg reports that the damage was limited to contents of the building and surface damage to the structure.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene around two hours.
Starkenburg says they also had a controlled burn on Saturday that kept flaring back up. He says they hope they got it out for good on Monday.
