Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Fire Company was called out to the report of a fire in one of the resident rooms at Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon at about 5:40 Monday evening.
According to Assistant Chief Brad Hindt, Fieldcrest employees had extinguished the fire on top of the room’s range with a fire extinguisher by the time firefighters arrived on scene, and were trying to clear the hallway of smoke. Hindt says firefighters used a positive pressure fan to help in removing the smoke.
The apartment received minor damage which was caused by a burner on the stove accidentally getting turned on, according to Hindt.
Sheldon Fire was assisted on scene by Sheldon Police Department and were on the scene for just over an hour.
