Sheldon Fire Crews Have Busy Monday Early Morning

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Fire Company was called out twice early Monday morning.

The first call came in shortly after 4:30 Monday morning. Assistant Fire Chief Brad Hindt, says the call was for a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup that was on fire at the Sheldon Motel. Upon arrival, Hindt says, firefighters discovered heavy fire coming from the engine compartment of the truck. He says firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which was apparently electrical in nature. Hindt says the pickup is most likely a total loss. Fire crews were back in service at 5:45 Monday morning.

Less than an hour later the fire department’s pagers went off again, this time for a carbon dioxide alarm at Cook’s Cafe. Hindt says firefighters were on the scene for about fifteen minutes before returning to the station.
