Sheldon Man Faces Child Endangerment Charges

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on child endangerment charges after an incident in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 34-year-old Carmelo Burgos Berrocal of Sheldon is accused of abusing a child in August. He was arrested on a warrant on Thursday.

Burgos Berrocal was charged with two counts of child endangerment causing bodily injury, a class D felony. If convicted on both counts and ordered to serve the terms consecutively, he could face up to ten years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on Monday, November 11th.

At last report, Burgos Berrocal remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of bond.
