Sheldon Man Taken To Hospital After Crash Near Hull

Hull, Iowa — A Sheldon man was taken to a hospital after a crash on Thursday evening near Hull.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 6:30 p.m., 21-year-old Blake Ten Haken of Hull was driving a 2005 Ford F350 Super Duty pickup westbound on Highway 18, three miles west of Hull. They tell us 20-year-old Reese Van Meeteren of Sheldon was driving a 1999 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado, also westbound on Highway 18, directly behind Ten Haken.

We’re told Ten Haken slowed and signaled to turn south onto Grant Avenue. The report says Van Meeteren failed to observe this change and struck the rear of the Ford pickup.

The Hull Ambulance took Van Meeteren to Hegg Health Center Avera in Rock Valley.

Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $10,000.

Van Meeteren was cited on a charge of following too closely.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the Hull Fire Department, Hull Ambulance Squad and the Rock Valley Police Department assisted them with the response to the crash.
