Sanborn, Iowa– A Sheldon teen was taken to the hospital after an accident near Sanborn on Friday, September 13, 2024.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 5:30 p.m., 15-year-old Ana Chavez Morales of Sheldon was driving a 2011 Volkswagen eastbound on Highway 18, three miles west of Sanborn. They tell us that 18-year-old Alexis Wunder of Spencer was eastbound in front of Chavez Morales on 18 in a 2008 Ford.
The report says that Wunder had stopped because a vehicle in front of her had stopped, but that vehicle and driver were no longer at the scene. While she was stopped, Chavez Morales tried to stop, but couldn’t stop in time and rear-ended her.
SCAT took Chavez Morales to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.
Chavez Morales’s Volkswagen sustained $8000 in damages, which totaled the vehicle. Wunder’s Ford sustained $7000 in damages.
Chavez Morales was charged with driving without a license.
