Sheldon Teen Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Sheldon High School

Sheldon, Iowa– A Sheldon teen was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sheldon on Monday, November 11, 2024.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that at about 12:45 p.m., 17-year-old Olivia Van Maaren of Sheldon was driving a 2010 Ford westbound, exiting the high school parking lot in Sheldon. They tell us that 56-year-old Joseph Albrecht of Sergeant Bluff was northbound on 19th Avenue in a 2023 Chevy pickup.

The report says that Van Maaren failed to yield to traffic on the roadway and struck the Albrect pickup on its passenger side.

The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team (SCAT) took Van Maaren to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Van Maaren’s Ford sustained $5000 in damages, and Albrecht’s Chevy pickup sustained $3000 in damages.
