Hospers, Iowa — A Sheldon woman was taken to the hospital after a crash on Thursday morning near Hospers.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Kingbird Avenue, about four miles northwest of Hospers.
They tell us 19-year-old Ofelia Chilel of Sheldon was driving a Toyota Camry northbound when she attempted to turn around in the middle of the road during foggy conditions. A Ford F-150 pickup driven by 33-year-old Adam Nibbelink of Hospers, who was traveling behind her, struck the car.
The Hospers Ambulance took Chilel to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.
Damage was estimated at $10,000 to her car and $5,000 to Nibbelink’s pickup.
Authorities cited Chilel on charges of driving without a valid license and stopping on the roadway.
The Hospers Ambulance assisted at the scene.
