Sioux Center, Iowa — Sioux County authorities are seeking the public’s help in their investigation of a hit-and-run collision that happened late Thursday afternoon (July 7th).
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 5:45 Thursday afternoon, deputies were called to investigate a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that occurred on 360th Street at the BNSF Railway railroad crossing, two and one-half miles north of Sioux Center.
Deputies say 16-year-old Sadie Ymker, of Ireton, was eastbound on 360th Street in a 2013 Chrysler 200 when a white SUV traveling eastbound ahead of her suddenly heavily applied its brakes at the railroad crossing and and Ymker struck the SUV. After the collision, Ymker pulled her vehicle off of the traveled portion of the roadway and the white SUV drove away without reporting the accident or returning to the area.
No injuries were reported.
Ymker’s Chrysler sustained approximately $2,000 damage. The unidentified SUV sustained rear-end damage, the extent of the damage is unknown.
