Sioux Center Man Accused Of Possession Of Fraudulent ID; Faces Felony Charge

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man has been arrested on a felony forgery charge.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sioux Center Police Department, 30-year-old Jose Lopez Lopez of Sioux Center is accused of possession of a fraudulent California driver’s license. He was arrested on Sunday evening.

In his statement, the officer says Lopez Lopez had been a passenger in a vehicle that had been pulled over for speeding. When his identification was requested, the officer says Lopez Lopez provided an identification card. Lopez Lopez had an active warrant for his arrest, according to the officer. He says that during a search incident to arrest, a fraudulent California Driver’s License was found in his wallet.

Lopez Lopez was charged with forgery, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on August 12th.

At last report, Lopez Lopez remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $5000 bond.
