Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man was taken to a hospital after a crash east of Sioux Center on Tuesday, July 8th.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that at about 11:30 a.m., 72-year-old Mark Schuiteman of Sioux Center was driving a 2021 Ford F-150 northbound on Ibex Avenue, two miles east of Sioux Center. They tell us that 16-year-old Ivan Perez-Martin of Sioux Center was driving a 2011 Ford F-250 eastbound on 380th Street. The vehicles collided at the intersection.
The Sioux Center Ambulance took Schuiteman to Sioux Center Health.
The Schuiteman pickup sustained an estimated $25,000 in damage. The Perez-Martin pickup sustained an estimated $20,000 in damage.
Perez-Martin was cited on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and one of failure to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection.
The sheriff’s office says the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Ambulance Squad, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted with the response to the accident.
