Sheldon, Iowa — A Sioux Center woman has been arrested on dependent adult abuse and fraud charges.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 55-year-old Adele Kamerman of Sioux Center is accused of making purchases for herself on a credit card that was not hers. She was arrested on Wednesday.
In his statement, the officer says Kamerman was employed as a caretaker of the victim. The victim is a dependent adult. Kamerman had access to the dependent adult’s bank card and online banking information and is accused of using the victim’s bank card to make online purchases for items that were not for the victim, and the items were shipped to Kamerman’s home address.
Kamerman was charged with dependent adult abuse and unauthorized use of a credit card, both class D felonies. If convicted, Kamerman could face up to five years in prison on each count.
Her first court date is on Tuesday, November 21st.
She was booked into jail and was released the same day.
