Sioux City Man Faces Felony Eluding, Laundry List Of Charges After Pursuit

George, Iowa — A Sioux City man has been arrested on felony eluding charges after a pursuit near George.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 34-year-old Kent Vink of Sioux City is accused of eluding a county deputy on August 15th while driving a motorcycle at more than 25 miles per hour over the speed limit. He was arrested on Tuesday.

In his statement, the deputy says Vink was traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy attempted a traffic stop but he says Vink eluded him and eventually lost control of the motorcycle. He says after further investigation, he believes the registered owner had sold the motorcycle to Vink, but Vink had not registered it in his name.

Vink was charged with eluding, which, in this case, is a class C felony. If convicted, Vink could face up to ten years in prison. He also faces misdemeanor charges of motorcycle license violation, speeding, failure to maintain control, no driver’s license, fail to yield to emergency vehicle, new title or registration transfer violation, driving while license suspended, driving under suspension, reckless driving, and careless driving.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on September 12th

At last report, Vink remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
