Sioux City Man Jailed In Connection With Two Sioux Center Business Burglaries

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux City man was arrested Tuesday on warrants charging him with multiple felony crimes in connection with incidents last spring in Sioux Center.

According to court records, 43-year-old Adam Curtis Nelson of Sioux City is accused of burglarizing the Sioux Center Bomgaars store on two separate occasions last spring.

Authorities say the first burglary happened at 4:00 am on Wednesday, April 1st of last year. In that crime, Nelson is accused of smashing two glass panes at the front entrance of the building and allegedly making off with more that $3,000 worth of power tools before leaving the store through a rear exit.

Then shortly after 4:00 am on Wednesday, May 13th of last year, Nelson is accused of once again smashing two glass panes at the front entrance of the Sioux Center Bomgaars, this time allegedly stealing more than $3,400 worth of tools before once again leaving through a rear exit, according to court records.

On Tuesday, Sioux County Deputies arrested Nelson on two counts of 2nd Degree Theft, a Class D Felony; two counts of 3rd Degree Burglary, a Class D Felony; and two counts of 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, a Serious Misdemeanor.

According to court records, DNA allegedly left at the scene of each crime led authorities to Nelson as a suspect in the burglaries.

As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, Nelson was still being held in the Sioux County Jail, according to online jail records.
