Rock Rapids, Iowa — An armed robbery in Sioux Falls Tuesday led to a vehicle pursuit with the suspect, ending north of Rock Rapids.
Sioux Falls Police say they are investigating an armed robbery Tuesday in the 3400 block of South Gateway Boulevard.
Police say a suspect wielded a knife while taking an undisclosed amount of money, before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle and being pursued by Sioux Falls Police Department into Iowa.
Lyon County authorities say their office was notified that there was a pursuit that entered Lyon County from South Dakota.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s joined the pursuit near the intersection of Hwy 9 and Dipper Avenue. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deployed stop sticks on the vehicle east of Garfield Ave on Hwy 9. The vehicle came to rest on 120th St. north of Rock Rapids.
Lyon County authorities identify the vehicle’s driver as 31-year-old Wacinhin Waste Win Rae Bearstops, from Pierre, South Dakota.
Deputies say Bearstops was arrested and housed at the Lyon County Jail. She was charged with eluding while participating in a felony, theft 2nd degree, theft 5th degree, reckless driving, possession of controlled substance – marijuana 1st offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and five other traffic offenses.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Sioux Falls Police Department and Trackside Towing of Alvord.
