Sioux Falls Woman Taken To Hospital, Then Jail After Hawarden Area Crash

Hawarden, Iowa — A Sioux Falls woman was taken to a hospital and then to jail after a crash near Hawarden on Thursday, March 19th, 2026.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that a few minutes before 9:30 p.m., 47-year-old Lisa Jo Nafziger of Sioux Falls, SD, was driving a 2021 Jeep Wrangler westbound on 420th Street, two miles northeast of Hawarden, when she lost control, and her Jeep entered the north ditch, where it came to rest.

Upon further investigation, Deputies determined that Nafziger was under the influence of alcohol.

The Hawarden Ambulance took Nafziger to Hawarden Regional Healthcare.

The Jeep sustained no damage.

Nafziger was arrested and was transported to the Sioux County Jail, where she was charged with Operating While Intoxicated First Offense.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us the Hawarden Police Department, Hawarden Ambulance, and the Hawarden Fire Department assisted them.
