Hull, Iowa — A Spencer man has died after an accident near Hull on Monday, March 28, 2022.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 2:30 p.m., 71-year-old Curtis Brownmiller of Spencer was driving a 2017 Nissan westbound on Highway 18, two miles east of Main Street in Hull, just east of Van’s Implement. They report that 43-year-old Jeffrey Ver Hoef of Hull was also westbound on 18 in a 1998 International truck.
The report says that Ver Hoef’s truck was stopped on Highway 18 facing west, as he was waiting to turn south onto Indian Avenue. Brownmiller ran into the back of the truck as the truck began to turn.
Brownmiller was taken to the Sioux Center Health Hospital by ambulance, where he died from his injuries.
The trooper’s report says the Hull Fire Department and Ambulance Squad, the Sioux Center Ambulance Squad, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, and the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division of the Iowa Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
