Spencer, Iowa — A shots fired call Tuesday night has resulted in half a dozen criminal charges against a Spencer man.
According to the Spencer Police Department, at approximately 9:51 p.m. Tuesday their communications center received several 911 calls of shots being fired in the apartment building located at 600 East 19th St.
When officers arrived, they were able to determine that two subjects got into a verbal altercation that allegedly resulted in 28-year-old Dilan Bartley of Spencer displaying a handgun and firing two rounds.
According to Spencer Police, officers were able to locate Bartley inside the apartment complex and took him into custody without incident.
Police say Bartley is charged with: Going Armed with Intent (Class D Felony); Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon (Class D Felony); Assault While Participating in a Felony (Class D Felony); Harassment (Aggravated Misdemeanor); Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor); Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor); and Reckless Use of a Firearm (Simple Misdemeanor).
Authorities say Bartley was booked into the Clay County Jail.
The Spencer Police Department was assisted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, O’Brien County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, Spencer Fire Department, and the Spencer Hospital.
According to online court records, a Preliminary Hearing in the case is scheduled for Friday, April 22nd at 3:30 pm in Clay County Magistrate Court in Spencer.
