Spencer Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Paullina

Paullina, Iowa– A Spencer woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Paullina on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 3:10 p.m., 68-year-old Daniel Crouch of Spencer was driving a 2014 Cadillac northbound on Nettle Avenue, six miles west and three north of Paullina. They tell us that 22-year-old Rowan Kolpin of Aurelia was also northbound on Nettle in a 2013 Ford, in front of Crouch.

The report says that Kolpin turned right onto 430th Street to perform a U-Turn to head back south on Nettle Avenue. It says Crouch crossed over partially over into the southbound lane as Kolpin was turning right. Kolpin made the U-Turn and did not see the Crouch Cadillac, striking it in the passenger side.

The Paullina Ambulance took a passenger in the Crouch vehicle, 62-year-old Jean Crouch of Spencer to the Orange City hospital.

Crouch’s Cadillac sustained $7900 in damages, and Kolpin’s Ford sustained $4800 in damages.
