Spirit Lake, Iowa — A Spirit Lake man was jailed after leading police on a high-speed chase Thursday.
According to Spirit Lake Police, one of their officers attempted a traffic stop on a minivan, for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, who police identify as Harley Dean Dugan of Spirit Lake, allegedly attempted to elude officers.
Police say the chase began in Spirit Lake’s downtown business district and proceeded to the northwest for a few blocks. Police say Dugan then attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended after he attempted to enter a residence.
Authorities say Dugan was booked into the Dickinson County Jail on charges of: Felony Eluding; 2nd Offense OWI, Interference with Official Acts; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; as well as a list of traffic charges which include doing 60 mph in a 25 mph zone.
