Spirit Lake, Iowa — Spirit Lake Police are investigating an unattended death.
The police department reports that on December 9, officers were called to the Keelson Harbour assisted living facility at 2810 Aurora Avenue in Spirit Lake for a report of a female who had been found deceased outside of the building.
They tell us that after the initial investigation into the incident, officers believe that an elderly female resident of the facility had made her way outside during the evening hours.
They say the incident remains under investigation by the Spirit Lake Police Department as well as the State Office of Inspection and Appeals. Officers tell us that the death is believed to have been unintentional.
