Beloit, Iowa — A Sioux Falls teen was taken to the hospital after an accident near Beloit. Beloit is an unincorporated Lyon County town south across the Big Sioux River from Canton, South Dakota.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:50 PM, on October 23, 2015 19-year-old Juan Padilla-Garcia of Sioux Falls, SD was driving a 2005 Ford Ecoline van northbound on county road A-54-B, a mile east of Beloit. The report says he was traversing a curve when he lost control of the vehicle, which entered the west ditch and rolled.
The Canton-Inwood Ambulance transported Padilla-Garcia to Sanford Canton.
The 2005 van owned by La Garita Food Services of Sioux Falls was a total loss with about $4,500 in damages.
While investigating the scene, officers report that they found drug paraphernalia inside of the van. Padilla-Garcia was subsequently charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Maintain Control, both simple misdemeanors.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department reports that the Canton-Inwood Ambulance crew, the Canton Fire Department, Inwood Fire Department, and Inwood Rescue crew assisted at the scene.
