Boyden, Iowa — A teen from Primghar and another from Rock Valley were taken to the hospital in the aftermath of a 2-vehicle crash near Boyden early Tuesday (May 7, 2019).
According to a report from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the mishap occurred shortly after midnight Tuesday morning when a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by 18-year-old Benjamin Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, was westbound on Highway 18 one-half mile west of Boyden. Deputies say Van Otterloo’s pickup crossed the center line and sideswiped an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 18-year-old Tiffani Bergstrom of Primghar.
According to authorities, both Bergstrom and Van Otterloo were transported by the Boyden Ambulance to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center with what the report calls “minor injuries”.
Deputies estimate the damage to Van Otterloo’s pickup at approximately $5,000. They say Bergstrom’s SUV sustained approximately $4,000 in damage.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Boyden Ambulance and Boyden Fire Department.
Deputies say the accident remains under investigation.
