Maurice, Iowa — A Texas man was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital after being involved in a crash that sent his vehicle into a river near Maurice.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that about 1:30 a.m., early on Sunday, 37-year-old Jeff Honorat of Buda, Texas, was driving a 2023 Dodge Hornet westbound on Highway 10 when he lost control of the vehicle, which entered the south ditch. It came to rest submerged in the Floyd River.
Honorat was transported to Sioux Center Health. He was later flown to a Sioux Falls hospital for further medical treatment.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $30,000.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, the Sioux Center Ambulance Squad, and the Maurice Fire Department.
The accident remains under investigation.
