Three People Taken To Hospital After Accident In Sioux Center

Sioux Center, Iowa– Drivers from Sioux Center and Hull and one passenger were taken to the hospital after an accident in Sioux Center on Friday, March 1, 2024.

The Sioux Center Police Department reports that at about 4:45 p.m. , 38-year-old Natali Barrera of Sioux Center was driving a 2012 Chrysler eastbound on 6th Street Northeast, in Sioux Center. They tell us that 64-year-old Sandra Starkenburg of Hull was northbound on 1st Avenue Northeast in a 2013 GMC SUV.

The report says that Barrera did not yield to the right as the vehicles went through the intersection. Barrera’s Chrysler was struck by the Starkenburg GMC on the passenger side and was pushed off the roadway.

Both Barrera and Starkenburg were taken to Sioux Center Health Hospital by private vehicles, but a passenger in Barrera’s vehicle, 25-year-old Enrique Hernandez of Ireton, was taken to the Sioux Center facility by ambulance.

Barrera’s Chrysler sustained $15,000 in damages, and Starkenburg’s GMC SUV sustained $10,000 in damages. Both vehicles were totaled in the collision.

Barrera was charged with no valid driver’s license and failure to yield.
