Three People Taken To Hospital By Ambulance After Alton Area Accident

Alton, Iowa — Three people were taken to a hospital by ambulance after an accident on Sunday afternoon near Alton.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that shortly after 2:00 p.m., 64-year-old Alan Woudstra of Hospers was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on a private driveway. They tell us that 30-year-old Samuel Reinders of Alton was driving a 2002 BMW motorcycle northbound on Jefferson Avenue. Woudstra drove onto Jefferson Avenue and the vehicles collided.

The Orange City Ambulance and Alton Ambulance took Woudstra, Reinders, and a passenger in the Equinox to Orange City Area Health.

Damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $10,000; and the motorcycle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Woudstra was cited on a charge of failure to yield when entering a roadway.

The sheriff’s office says the Alton Ambulance Squad, Alton Fire Department, Orange City Police Department and Orange City Ambulance Squad all assisted with the response to the accident.
