Ashton, Iowa — Three people were taken to the hospital in the aftermath of a two vehicle crash at the corner of 220th Street and Pierce Avenue, northeast of Ashton Saturday afternoon (July 13th).
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says the mishap occurred when a 2018 Audi Q5, driven by 65-year-old Barbara Suzanne Dunaway, of Overland Park KS, was westbound on 220th Street, and allegedly failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Pierce Avenue, and collided with a 2019 Ford Edge, driven by 41-year-old Allison Marie Behrendsen of Schleswig.
Both drivers, along with a passenger in the Dunaway vehicle, were transported to the Osceola Regional Health Center by the Sibley and Ashton Ambulances.
Damage to each vehicle was estimated at approximately $10,000.
Deputies say they cited Dunaway for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Sibley and Ashton Ambulances, as well as the Ashton Fire Department.
