Sioux Center, Iowa — A tractor was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, near Sioux Center.
According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, at about 4:10 p.m., the Sioux Center Fire Department was called to the report of a tractor on fire at 390th Street and Eagle Avenue, seven miles west of Sioux Center on B40.
When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the older tractor fully involved in flames. He says they used water to fight the fire.
Van Holland says no injuries were reported.
The fire department was assisted by the Ireton Fire Department per their auto-aid agreement.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but it probably started in the engine compartment or could have been electrical in nature.
Chief Van Holland reports that the damage was total, but the box scraper to which the tractor was attached was likely saved.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for 30 to 45 minutes.
