George, Iowa — A tractor was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, near George.
According to George Fire Assistant Chief Josh Eben, at about 1:30 p.m., the George Fire Department was called to the report of a tractor on fire on the 3500 mile of 200th Street, five miles west and a mile north of George.
When they got there, he says the fire department saw an older 4-wheel drive tractor hooked up to a manure spreader on the road, fully engulfed. He says they used water to fight the fire.
Assistant Chief Eben says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined but was likely electrical in nature.
Assistant Chief Eben reports that the tractor was totaled.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour and 45 minutes.
