Primghar, Iowa — A tractor was destroyed in a fire on Sunday night, November 2, 2025, near Primghar.
According to Primghar Fire Chief Cory Crouch, at about 9:45 p.m., the Primghar Fire Department was called to the report of a tractor on fire within 30 feet of a hog barn at 3850 Taft Avenue, three miles east and a half north of Primghar.
When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the tractor fully involved. He says they split their efforts between keeping the hog barn cool and putting out the tractor blaze. They used both water and foam to put out the tractor fire.
Crouch says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but witnesses say it started in the tractor’s engine compartment.
Chief Crouch reports that the tractor was totaled in the blaze, and there was some damage to the manure pump it was connected to as well.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for 25 to 30 minutes.
