Sanborn, Iowa — Two people were taken to the hospital after the UTV they were riding rolled over at a rural Sanborn farm Monday afternoon.
According to a report from the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Tasha Kinnetz of Sanborn was operating a Polaris RZR 570 UTV on a gravel driveway when her sandal got stuck by the machine’s accelerator pedal, causing her to lose control. Deputies say the UTV then went sideways, hit a slight elevation and rolled once.
Kinnetz was taken by Sanborn Ambulance to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of what are described as “suspected serious, incapacitating injuries.”
An 8-year-old Melvin male was a passenger on the UTV, and was taken to Sanford Sheldon by private vehicle for treatment of minor injuries.
The mishap occurred shortly after 3:30 Monday afternoon.
