Two People Taken To Hospitals After Accident South Of Rock Valley

Rock Valley, Iowa — Two people were taken to hospitals after an accident south of Rock Valley on Monday, April 10th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:10 p.m., 30-year-old Andrea Clough of Sioux Center was driving a 2015 GMC Terrain northbound on Elmwood Avenue, six miles south of Rock Valley. They say 33-year-old Giovanis Ponze-Mejia of Rock Valley was driving a 2006 Mitsubishi Galant southbound on Elmwood Avenue. Clough allegedly attempted to make a left turn and struck Ponze-Mejia.

They tell us both drivers denied further medical attention, however two passengers in the Mitsubishi were taken to hospitals by ambulance. They say 37-year-old Benicia Herrera Tellez of Rock Valley was transported by the Rock Valley Ambulance to Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley, and 37-year-old Juan Carlos Bustillos of Rock Valley was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health.

The GMC sustained approximately $10,000 in damage; the Mitsubishi sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage.
