Maurice, Iowa — Two people, one from Maurice and one from Akron were taken to a hospital after an accident on Friday, September 13 near Maurice.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 6:15 p.m., 34-year-old Omar Hernandez of Maurice was driving a 2013 Infinity JX35 westbound on 470th Street, a half mile west of Maurice. They tell us 23-year-old Brooklyn Albers of Akron was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer westbound on 470th behind Omar. As Omar began to turn onto a private driveway, Albers struck the Infinity.
The Sioux Center Ambulance took Hernandez and Albers to Sioux Center Health.
The deputy covering the accident says alcohol may have been a factor, and the accident remains under investigation.
The Maurice Fire Department, Maurice First Responders, and Sioux Center Ambulance assisted the sheriff’s office.
