Two To Hospital Following Ireton Mishap

Ireton, Iowa – Two people were injured and taken to area hospitals following a mid-morning crash at the intersection of Highway 10 and Eagle Avenue near Ireton Friday.

According to authorities, the crash happened when 19-year-old Briggs Friedmann, of Orange City, was southbound on Eagle Avenue in a 2017 Ram 1500. Deputies say a 2010 Nissan Armada, driven by 24-year-old Alec Jensen, of Sibley, was westbound on Highway 10. The report says Friedmann failed to stop for the stop sign at Highway 10, entered the intersection and the two vehicles collided.

Deputies say Friedmann was transported by the Ireton Ambulance to Hawarden Regional Healthcare for treatment of his injuries, while Jensen was transported by the Ireton Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of his injuries.

The Ram sustained approximately $25,000 in damage; the Nissan received approximately $12,500 in damage.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Ireton Rescue and the Ireton Fire Department.

Authorities say the accident remains under investigation.
