Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Police were kept busy with a pair of minor accidents and an arrest on Friday the 13th.
Around 11:30 Friday morning police were called to a two-vehicle accident in the 200 block of 9th Street downtown in Sheldon. According to the accident report, a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 19-year old Riki Langfitt of Sheldon was southbound in an alley, and when she attempted to turn onto 9th Street, struck a 2014 Ford Focus, driven by 21-year old Nathan Mordick of Sioux Falls. Damage to Mordick’s car was estimated at $1,000, while Langfitt’s SUV received an estimated $1500 in damage. There were no injuries. Langfitt was ticketed for Failure To Yield The Right Of Way.
Then, shortly after 3:00 pm Friday, police received a report of a hit & run accident in the 900 block of 9th Street. According to authorities, a 2005 Ford Focus, owned by Trinity Boer of Sheldon, was legally parked along the north curb when it was struck by an unknown vehicle, causing approximately $2000 in damage, before leaving the scene.
Sheldon Police arrested a 23-year old Sheldon man Friday night shortly after 7:10 pm. Pollice say Brandon Finney of Sheldon was jailed on a charge of Driving While Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
