Woman Accused of Stealing Debit Card, Funds From Dependent Adult At Hope Haven

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley woman who has been wanted since November has been arrested on one felony and one misdemeanor warrant in regard to an exploitation case involving a dependant adult.

According to records filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court, 26-year-old Julianne Konz faces a charge of dependant adult abuse – exploitation of over $100, a class D felony, and a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a credit card.

The records filed by the Rock Valley Police Department, allege that while she was working at Hope Haven in October of 2021 and taking care of dependent adults at that facility, Konz took a debit card owned by a resident of the facility without authorization, and while acting as that person’s caretaker.

The officer’s statement alleges that Konz then used the card to withdraw $140 from an ATM in Rock Valley that same day and also used the card out-of-state, depriving the victim of $2,456.40 in total.

A warrant was issued for Konz’s arrest in early November. According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, that warrant was served on Tuesday, March 1st. The arrest log lists Konz’s current address as an apartment in Sioux Falls. It says that at last report, she remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $10,000 bond. No court dates have yet been set.
