Worthington Man Arrested, Charged With Identity Theft

Harris, Iowa — A Worthington man has been arrested on identity theft charges after being accused of gaining employment under another person’s name.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Osceola County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, a man identified as 21-year-old Eddy Coj Gomez of Worthington is accused of taking another person’s identity and gaining employment.

In his statement, the deputy states that he interviewed Coj Gomez and that he admitted to obtaining employment in Osceola County using the victim’s name and other personal information.

Coj Gomez was charged with identity theft, a class C felony. If convicted, Coj Gomez could face up to ten years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

At last report, he had been released from the Osceola County Jail in Sibley, after posting a $10,000 bond.
