Camper Destroyed In Rural Inwood Fire

Inwood, Iowa — A camper was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, near Inwood.

According to Inwood Fire Chief Troy Van Beek, about 9:45 p.m., the Inwood Fire Department was called to the report of a camper on fire at 1872 Cleveland Avenue, five miles north, a mile east, and a little north of Inwood; or a mile east and almost a mile south of the West Lyon School.

The chief says the fire department saw the camper was fully engulfed in flame as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.

Van Beek says no injuries were reported. The Inwood firefighters were assisted by the Larchwood Fire Department. He says that due to the amount of damage, the cause of the fire is undetermined, but he doesn’t think it was suspicious.

Chief Van Beek reports that the camper was totaled in the blaze, but nothing else burned in the fire.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about two hours.
