Fire Goes Out Of Control, Burns Neighbor’s Property

Sanborn, Iowa — The Sanborn Fire Department was called out on Friday afternoon, March 12, 2021.

According to Jeff Kuehl with the Sanborn Fire Department, at about 3:00 p.m., firefighters were called to the report of a grass fire between 280th and 290th Streets on Polk Avenue, about four miles north and about two miles west of Sanborn.

Kuehl says someone had been burning off their land and the fire got out of control and started burning a neighbor’s property.

Kuehl tells us no injuries were reported. He says a number of acres of grass with small trees burned. He says they put out the fire and the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about two hours.
