Hartley Man Jailed In Sioux County On Felony Charge

Granville, Iowa — A Hartley man is in the Sioux County Jail following an incident in Granville early Monday morning.

According to court records, early Monday morning (October 18th), 35-year-old Jose De Leon Tavarez is accused of illegally entering a Granville residence and assaulting two individuals, one of whom was reportedly De Leon Tavarez’ former domestic partner. Court records indicate that she was injured in the alleged assault.

Court records indicate that for allegedly entering the residence, De Leon Tavarez is charged with 1st Degree Burglary, which is a Class B Felony. For allegedly assaulting his former domestic partner, he’s charged with Domestic Abuse Assault With Injury, which is a serious misdemeanor.

As of late morning Wednesday, De Leon Tavarez was still being held in the Sioux County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond, according to online Sioux County Jail records.
