Kots Arrested On New Theft, Burglary Charges

Sutherland, Iowa — Charges have been filed against a Sutherland man in connection with a series of vehicle thefts and burglaries in that happened in October of last year.

Sutherland Police say the charges against 24-year-old Bradley Tyler Kots stem from incidents on October 5th and 6th in Sutherland. Police say their investigation led to charges being filed earlier this week.

The charges against Kots include: 4 counts of 3rd Degree Burglary, which are Class D Felonies; 2 counts of 2nd Degree Theft, which are Class D Felonies; Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent, an Aggravated Misdemeanor; Trespassing, a Serious Misdemeanor; and 5th Degree Theft, a Simple Misdemeanor. Online jail records indicate that Kots was arrested on the charges by Sutherland Police Wednesday.

These charges are in addition to other charges stemming from a December incident in which Kots allegedly led officers on a high-speed chase while allegedly driving a stolen car, and another incident in which he is accused of stealing a car from the parking lot at Dollar General in Sheldon in early December. He also faces Vehicle Theft charges in Cherokee County in unrelated incidents.
