Sanborn Woman Taken To Hospital After Crash

Sanborn, Iowa– A Sanborn woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Sanborn on Monday, January 13, 2020.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 4:20 p.m, 47-year-old Ruth Borden of Sanborn was driving a 2004 GMC SUV eastbound on Highway 18, two miles east of Sanborn.

The report says that Borden attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle. It says that road conditions were 100% snow and/or ice-covered. The officer says Borden lost control and her SUV entered the south ditch where it hit the deep snow and turned over onto the driver’s side. According to the report, a witness following both vehicles called 911 to report the accident.

The Sanborn Ambulance took Borden to Baum Harmon Mercy One Hospital.

Her GMC SUV sustained $6000 in damages, which totaled the vehicle.

Borden was charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
