Sioux Center Man Injured In Southern Minnesota Crash

Bigelow, Minnesota — A Sioux Center man was taken to the hospital early Wednesday afternoon after his SUV collided head-on with a semi tractor south of Bigelow.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred about 12:30 Wednesday afternoon about a mile north of the Minnesota/Iowa state line on Highway 60.

Troopers say a 2009 Kenworth semi tractor, driven by 46-year-old Mark Bayliff, of Hooper Nebraska, was northbound on Highway 60, when his vehicle entered the median, crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a 2008 Ford Escape, driven by 33-year-old Calixto Lopez Morales, of Sioux Center.

According to the crash report, Lopez Morales was taken by ambulance to Sanford Medical Center in Worthington, with what troopers describe as “non-life threatening” injuries. Bayliff escaped injury in the collision.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Bigelow Fie Department, Worthington Fire Department and Worthington Ambulance.
