Two Drivers Injured In Lyon County Crash

Alvord, Iowa — Two men were hospitalized in the aftermath of a head-on collision south of Alvord early Monday evening.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened shortly before 5:45 Monday evening on county road K30, north of county road A42, south of the east edge of Alvord.

Details are still a bit sketchy, but troopers say they believe the crash happened when a northbound 1998 Dodge Intrepid, driven by 20-year-old Kory Kock of Alvord, collided with a southbound 2021 Honda Civic, driven by 24-year-old Michael Zylstra of Rock Valley.

According to authorities, both drivers were extricated from their vehicles by mechanical means, with Kock being transported to Avera Rock Valley by Lyon County Ambulance while Zylstra was reportedly taken to Avera Rock Rapids by Lyon County Ambulance.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation.
