Alton, Iowa– An Alton teen and an Orange City woman were taken to a hospital after an accident in Alton on Monday, November 13, 2023.
The Orange City Police Department reports that at about 7:35 a.m., 15-year-old Carly Andresen of Alton was driving a 2003 Buick southbound on Kennedy Avenue, in Alton. They tell us that 26-year-old Samantha Benson of Orange City was eastbound on Highway 10 in a 2015 Ford.
The report says that Andresen stopped for the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 10, and then proceeded into the intersection, not seeing the Benson vehicle, and pulled out in front of Benson.
The Alton Ambulance took Andresen to Orange City Health System Hospital. The Orange City Ambulance took Benson to Orange City Health System Hospital.
Andresen’s Buick sustained $5000 in damages, and Benson’s Ford sustained $6000 in damages.
Andresen was charged with failure to obey stop sign and yield right-of-way.
