33 New COVID Cases & 1 Death In Four-County Area Thursday

Northwest Iowa — Thirty-three new cases of COVID-19, along with one additional COVID-related death were reported in the four-county area Thursday by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Officials say the death was that of a resident of Lyon County and brought the death toll in the four-county area to 122 since the pandemic began. Fifty people have succumbed to the virus in O’Brien County, forty-one in Sioux County, twenty-four in Lyon County and seven in Osceola County.

As for new cases of COVID-19 reported Thursday, eighteen were in Sioux County, bringing that county’s total to 4,261. Lyon County reported nine new cases, bringing their total to 1,219. There were five new cases reported in O’Brien County, bringing that county’s total to 1,561, while Osceola County experienced one new case, making their total 604.

Of the 1,219 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,013 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 83%.
Of the 4,261 Sioux County residents to test positive, 3,712 have recovered, for a rate of about 87%.
Of the 1,561 O’Brien County residents to test positive, 1,283 have recovered, for a rate of about 82%.
Of the 604 Osceola County residents who tested positive for COVID-19, 522 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 86%.
