Northwest Iowa — There have been 80 new positive COVID-19 test results in the four-county area of O’Brien, Osceola, Lyon and Sioux Counties over the past seven days, but once again there are no deaths to report this week.
The new positive cases during the previous seven days include: 48 in Sioux County, with an 8% positive rate; 21 in O’Brien County, with a 5% positive rate; 6 in Osceola County, with a 7% positive rate; and 5 in Lyon County, with just a 3% positive rate, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Once again this week there are no deaths to report in the four-county area in the past seven days, leaving the total number of deaths at 179 since the pandemic began. That includes 69 Sioux County residents, 54 from O’Brien County, 41 from Lyon County and 15 from Osceola County who have perished since the coronavirus pandemic started a little more than a year ago.
As of mid-afternoon Monday there was just one current outbreak in an Iowa nursing home, according to the state’s coronavirus website. That one outbreak involves 6 residents of a southeast Iowa nursing home.
