A Reminder To Stay OUT Of Construction Zones

Sioux Center, Iowa — Sioux County authorities, along with area road construction crews, are once again reminding motorists to stay out of road construction zones, after an incident near Sioux Center.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says an unfortunate incident happened when someone thought it was alright to drive through wet concrete in the construction zone near county roads B-40 and K-42 west of Sioux Center. Now, according to the sheriff’s office, crews need to replace that area, delaying the progress of the road work. In this particular incident, deputies say the suspect vehicle is believed to be a black pickup.

Motorists are reminded to not move any cones and signs used to deter traffic. Officials say it can be difficult to tell the difference between cured concrete and fresh concrete after they spray the top with white curing compound, which is why they set cones and signs.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says they want the projects completed just as much as everyone, but these type of incidents only make it take longer.
