Rock Rapids, Iowa — After being flooded out last year and being forced to hold 4H activities in Sibley, the Lyon County Fair is back home in Rock Rapids, and is underway for 2025.
Joel Vis is on the Lyon County Fair Board, and he tells us about it.
Vis says he and the fair board want to send out a big “thank you” to all those who were involved in getting the fairgrounds back in shape.
One of the new things at the Lyon County Fair this year is called “Mutton Busting,” and it’s basically a sheep rodeo for kids.
Vis says while there is fun for all ages, fairs are all about the kids.
There are all kinds of things for the adults too, including regular car races on Tuesday night, and figure-8 races on Wednesday night. Plus, the weekly races on Friday night are free as a thank you to those who helped make the 2025 Lyon County Fair a success.
